At Sand Island Surf Shop, our goal is to make selling your surfboard simple, fair, and hassle-free.
We price boards at current market value to help them sell fast and for a fair return. A 30% service fee is charged on the sale price.
We don’t mark up boards based on what you’d like to get out of it—our pricing is based on what boards are actually selling for.
To keep boards moving and maintain fresh inventory, we follow a set markdown schedule:
After 30 days, price drops by 10%.
After 60 days, an additional 10% reduction.
After 180 days, we may relist the board with another 10% markdown and restart the 60-day cycle.
After one year, boards may be included in our $99 and under semiannual sale.
We clean every board before display—removing stickers, mounts, and worn stomp pads.
Minor dings are sealed with solar resin.
For more serious repairs, we’ll contact you first. If you approve, the repair cost will be deducted from your portion of the sale.
We aim to list all boards on our website and Facebook Marketplace within one week, though some boards may take a little longer depending on condition and season.
If you choose to pick up your board within the first 30 days, a $50 service/processing fee applies to cover cleaning, listing, and promotion costs.
We do not contact consignors with individual offers. Boards sell according to the agreed pricing and markdown schedule—this keeps the process smooth and fair for everyone.
Once your board sells, your payout will be sent via ACH or PayPal, based on your preference.
All payments are processed every Monday:
ACH: 3–5 business days to arrive in your account.
PayPal: Funds are released after one week and available immediately once sent.
